Stronger for Longer

Did you know that you lose an average of 5% of your muscle strength every decade?

This is known as sarcopaenia.  Most people have heard about bone strength loss but recent research has shown that muscle strength loss may be as important. This class is suitable for the older adult who would like to get stronger but is not keen on going to the gym.  All our class instructors are chartered physiotherapists.

Our Stronger for Longer class involves strengthening exercises for all the important muscle groups, along with balance training.  Resistance training will involve using a stretchy band (we can supply this), your own body weight or some free weights.  Classes last for one hour.

A set of eight classes costs €120 (Zoom) or €140 (Clinic) and classes can be joined at any time.  If you would like to do a free trial class, just ask.  You will need some weights (we will advise on using certain household items if you don’t have any) and/or stretchy bands (€5).

If you are doing the classes via Zoom, we will guide you through the process of setting up Zoom and joining the classes, if you are not familiar with it.  If you want to do more than one Zoom class in the same calendar week, it is only €5 for the extra classes.  It is advised that you do 2-3 classes per week as per current research.

Please give us at least three hours’ notice if you are unable to attend for your class as there is a charge for late cancellations and no shows.
